ABOUT
Connor Pritchard is an award-winning director from Aotearoa New Zealand, building a distinctive body of work across film, music and advertising. Named Emerging Director of the Year at both New Zealand’s 2025 AXIS Awards and Australia’s 2025 AWARD Awards, he is fast becoming one of the most compelling new voices in the region.
Connor came up through the DIY world of music videos, teaching himself the craft while collaborating with artists from New Zealand and the international underground. Those early years shaped more than his filmmaking—they gave him an instinctive understanding of music, subculture and the images that genuinely resonate with contemporary audiences.
Since moving into commercial directing in 2023, Connor has brought that perspective to work for MINI, Apple, Vodafone, adidas, HBO and Health New Zealand. His films combine inventive camerawork, bold visual ideas and offbeat humour with a strong sense of human and cultural truth. Whether directing artists, athletes or people appearing on screen for the first time, he creates work that feels immediate, considered and unmistakably his own.
Connor’s relationship with culture is lived rather than observed. From the unruly energy of his earliest music videos to the precision of his commercial work, his films capture a new kind of storytelling emerging across the Tasman: cinematic but unpolished at the edges, strange in the right places, emotionally attuned and alive to the world around it.
